ENTERPRISE

Communication is a virus - FINAL CRIT FEEDBACK

We thought that your response answered the brief, and was effectively executed, and there is evidence to show that people turned up for the event.

We thought that the concept was clearly defined, and was kept throughout.

We thought that the context was also defined, and the idea worked, it had a sense of humour as you wanted it to, and the idea was kept up throughout.

The method of delivery was clearly defined and it was good how you used different formats.

We thought it was a more of a con than a lie as the small print is actually there, but it answered the task as was one of the most convincing ideas.

Lots of research on advertising, with small print as main focus. Research backs up idea.

There isn't much writing on your blogs, would have been good to evalaute progress as you went along, and to explain images, when you have time to do this.

Your concept doesn't have a limit, so you can go further with it if you want, by telling different lies, and maybe taking it outside college, now that you know that it works.

You could try moving the small print into different places like the clever wording of the free beer sign. Make people think its really clever as they don't notice the small print. (we didn't know which blog the examples of this are on?)

Book Works.

FINAL:Book fair

I decided on a basic design including a range of my logo idea's instead of just one.
The book is aimed at Graphic Designers wanting to know colour pantones for screen printing.
The book includes layers which people can place over the original colour themselves.
The 'circle' colour pantones are printed on tracing and acetate paper so it makes it easy to see through.
The colours are also numbered which means people can look at a key and work out which colour they want to print.

FINAL CUT - COLLECTION 100'

FINAL EVALUATION

End of module self-evaluation

What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

I have become much more knowledgeable on how to present my work.

In our brief 'collection 100' we looked at 'the concept of a book'. I enjoyed the bookbinding workshops and felt i gained skills and knowledge about books in general, in the way they are put together , what they are portraying and how.
I took great interest to Book binding and feel it will improve my work and broaden my ideas in the future.

I'd say i have developed skills in ways to collect ,categorize and organize my research. I have discovered lots of new ways to do this which visually improves the look of my brief as whole - on my blog/worksheets and even including categorization in my final outcome's . This has made me much more aware of graphic design - 'info graphics' when gathering research.

What approaches to methods of research have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

In our group brief we worked together effectively in gathering research, We throughly investigated the background problems of what we were trying to communicate/do. we collected opinions/ visuals and stats to choose our audience. This gave us a broad range of primary and secondary research which as whole gave our final outcome the purpose we were hoping for and not just the visuals.

My approaches towards my research have been widely influenced by collection and categorizing. i became obsessive in finding facts and dates about Mc'donalds toys. I also enjoyed asking people about their favorite childhood toys, i got some great responses from friends , family and peers, this made me want to gather more.

What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalize on these?

i can see a massive improvement on the layout, colour and composition of my work. Collecting influences from blogs and using my design context blog more has made me more aware of how to visually improve on where i was going wrong e.g pixels and colour composition. Crits and feedback gave me the direction i needed, i found the negative feedback helpful.
Illustrator has also helped me with this.
I would say im defiantly more aware of the 'crispness' of final outcomes.

What Weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these more fully?

QUANTITY!- Looking back through my blog i realized that i have been focusing too much on the final outcomes as oppose to the development of my work.
During 'collection 100' i gathered enough research but didn't explore most of it in my work.
My biggest mistake was having an idea , sticking to that and not pushing boundaries.
This lead to poor amounts of design sheets/ideas in my design process which in turn made me change my final outcome at the last minute with no supporting work to back it up.
I have also fallen back on time-management , i need to be more aware of how much time i need because it always takes longer than you think.
